How to Hang a Hammock Chair from a Ceiling Joist

Hammock ChairThese instructions are for hanging a Hammock Chair from a ceiling joist. However, a similar process should be followed wherever you are going to hang the chair. For your safety make sure to also read the warning card before using the chair.

INSTALLING THE EYEBOLT
1. Locate the ceiling joist, using a stud finder or similar tool. Be sure to locate the exact center of the joist.
2. Using a wood drill bit, drill a hole (approximately 5” deep) perpendicular to the ceiling. THE HOLE MUST BE DIRECTLY IN THE CENTER OF THE STUD/JOIST FOR MAXIMUM WEIGHT BEARING. Failure to do so could cause loosening in the eyebolt.
3. Screw eyebolt into hole until all threads have disappeared into the ceiling.
4. Check and make sure the eyebolt is securely placed in to the beam/joist each time before sitting in the chair. Failure to do so could result in injury.

HANGING YOUR HAMMOCK CHAIR
1. Tie an overhand knot through the large S hook provided, using the two overhead ropes. Be sure to maintain equal rope length on both sides.
2. Using the large S hook, hang chair into pre-installed eyebolt.
3. Install the dowels firmly into dowel sockets, marking sure they are firmly seated. The long dowel should be installed overhead, the two equal length dowels should be installed on the sides (above the armrests), and the short dowels should be installed in the footrest.
4. Test the strength of the knots and dowel holders before sitting in chair. Pull firmly on the overhead ropes to secure knots.
5. Make sure the overhead dowel is level, parallel with the ground. If the dowel is not level, your chair may be hung lopsided.
6. DO NOT SWING OR SPIN IN CHAIR. Swinging and spinning could cause the eyebolt to loosen, resulting in injury. Ewins.com and its affiliates are not responsible for injury or accident that results from misuse of the chair – including swinging, rocking, spinning, or any other action that would cause the chair to fall, break, or come apart.

HANGING THE FOOTREST
1. Tie the rope to the small S hook provided, using an overhand knot.
2. Using the small S hook, hang the footrest into pre-installed eyebolt or large S hook.
3. The footrest can be adjusted up or down for further comfort.
